Des images qui sont assembl\u00e9es comme une mosa\u00efque, formant peu \u00e0 peu une gigantesque photo panoramique du ciel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Des torrents de donn\u00e9es sont envoy\u00e9s vers la Terre \u00e0 qui des traitements sophistiqu\u00e9s sont appliqu\u00e9s pour d\u00e9terminer avec une extraordinaire pr\u00e9cision la position des \u00e9toiles et diverses caract\u00e9ristiques (\u00e9clat, couleur, vitesse&#8230;). Les zones grises stri\u00e9es de noir montrent que Gaia n&rsquo;a pas encore termin\u00e9 son balayage du ciel (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Gaia_GDR1_Sky_Map_HD.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-N7uB6kgr\" data-rl_title=\"Gaia_GDR1_Sky_Map_HD\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"Gaia_GDR1_Sky_Map_HD\">zoom<\/a>).<\/strong><small> Cr\u00e9dit\u00a0: ESA\/Gaia\/DPAC<\/small><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;Agence spatiale europ\u00e9enne et ses partenaires scientifiques ont publi\u00e9 un premier jeu de donn\u00e9es issu d&rsquo;une ann\u00e9e de mesures ainsi qu&rsquo;une image d&rsquo;ensemble que l&rsquo;on peut consid\u00e9rer comme la premi\u00e8re carte du ciel \u00e9tablie avec Gaia&nbsp;!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Sur cette image, les zones les plus lumineuses (au milieu) correspondent \u00e0 de fortes concentrations d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles, alors que dans les zones plus sombres (en haut et en bas) les \u00e9toiles sont plus dispers\u00e9es. Ces diff\u00e9rences de densit\u00e9 refl\u00e8tent la structure en disque de notre galaxie, la Voie lact\u00e9e&nbsp;: un disque de 100&nbsp;000 ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re de diam\u00e8tre et de 1&nbsp;000 ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re d&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur contenant environ 200 milliards d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles. La plus forte densit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles est observ\u00e9e au milieu de l&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur de ce disque, le \u00ab\u00a0plan galactique\u00a0\u00bb&nbsp;: sur la photo, cela se traduit par une bande brillante, cette m\u00eame bande que l&rsquo;on peut observer depuis la Terre par une belle nuit noire, sous la forme d&rsquo;une tra\u00een\u00e9e blanche faiblement lumineuse qui a donn\u00e9 son nom \u00e0 notre galaxie. Certaines zones noires apparaissent en surimpression sur cette bande blanche&nbsp;: ce sont des nuages de poussi\u00e8res interstellaires qui absorbent la lumi\u00e8re. \u00c9galement visibles sur la photo sous forme de t\u00e2ches brillantes en bas \u00e0 droite&nbsp;: les nuages de Magellan, deux galaxies naines qui tournent autour de la Voie lact\u00e9e. Enfin, d&rsquo;\u00e9tranges stries sombres sont \u00e9galement visibles&nbsp;: il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;effets de balayage, car Gaia n&rsquo;a pas encore termin\u00e9 son travail de photographie de l&rsquo;ensemble du ciel qui doit durer cinq ans. Ces traces disparaitront peu \u00e0 peu dans les prochaines versions de cette  image, dont une mise \u00e0 jour est pr\u00e9vue chaque ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un fantastique travail de cartographie c\u00e9leste<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Les cartes du ciel modernes<\/strong> sont bas\u00e9es sur des <strong><em>catalogues<\/em><\/strong> d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles, d&rsquo;\u00e9normes listes qui recensent un maximum d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles en indiquant pour chacune d&rsquo;elle sa position, sa magnitude (\u00e9clat), son type spectral (couleur) et \u00e9ventuellement d&rsquo;autres informations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c9tablir ces catalogues est un travail minutieux qui repose sur des photos et des mesures. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, les astronomes font appel \u00e0 des satellites sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s pour obtenir les photos et donn\u00e9es n\u00e9cessaires&nbsp;: ainsi le satellite europ\u00e9en Hipparcos, lanc\u00e9 en 1989, a permis la production du catalogue Tycho r\u00e9f\u00e9ren\u00e7ant deux millions d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles. Il est largement utilis\u00e9 par la communaut\u00e9 scientifique et par tous ceux qui \u00e9tablissent des cartes du ciel, dont Stelvision&nbsp;!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/orion_tycho_500.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11646\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/orion_tycho_500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/orion_tycho_500-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/orion_tycho_500-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/orion_tycho_500-368x368.jpg 368w, https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/orion_tycho_500-270x270.jpg 270w, https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/orion_tycho_500-62x62.jpg 62w, https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/orion_tycho_500-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong> Un exemple obtenu avec le catalogue d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles Tycho : cette carte (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/orion_tycho_HR.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-N7uB6kgr\" data-rl_title=\"orion_tycho_HR\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"orion_tycho_HR\">zoom<\/a>) de la constellation d&rsquo;Orion montre un tr\u00e8s grand nombre d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles (la plupart invisibles \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u0153il nu) et donne une id\u00e9e de la richesse de ce catalogue de deux millions d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles contenant pour chacune sa position, sa magnitude (\u00e9clat), sa couleur&#8230; Largement utilis\u00e9 par la communaut\u00e9 scientifique, ce catalogue sera supplant\u00e9 dans quelques ann\u00e9es par celui de Gaia, qui contiendra les positions et caract\u00e9ristiques d&rsquo;un milliard d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles&nbsp;!<\/strong><small> Cr\u00e9dit&nbsp;: Stelvision<\/small><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Avec Gaia, les possibilit\u00e9s sont plus que d\u00e9cupl\u00e9es&nbsp;: son capteur de 1&nbsp;gigapixel photographie inlassablement l&rsquo;int\u00e9gralit\u00e9 du ciel visible avec l&rsquo;objectif de recenser un milliard d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles&nbsp;! C&rsquo;est \u00e9norme, m\u00eame si cela ne repr\u00e9sente qu&rsquo;une petite portion (moins de 1%) des \u00e9toiles de la Voie lact\u00e9e. Chaque zone du ciel sera analys\u00e9e plusieurs fois au cours des cinq ans de dur\u00e9e de vie du satellite, ce qui permettra de d\u00e9terminer les distances des \u00e9toiles (par la  m\u00e9thode des <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Parallaxe#\/media\/File:Parallaxe_annuelle.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-N7uB6kgr\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\">parallaxes annuelles<\/a>) et de surveiller leurs variations de position ou de luminosit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce catalogue d&rsquo;une richesse et d&rsquo;une pr\u00e9cision sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent servira de base \u00e0 de nombreux travaux de recherche sur la population des \u00e9toiles de notre galaxie, et constituera la nouvelle r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00ab\u00a0g\u00e9om\u00e9trique\u00a0\u00bb du ciel&nbsp;: ses innombrables mesures seront autant de rep\u00e8res dans l&rsquo;espace et dans le temps pour localiser et surveiller tout astre ou
