Quand elle est proche de la Terre, la plan\u00e8te brille d&rsquo;<strong>un fort \u00e9clat teint\u00e9 de rouge<\/strong>. Sa couleur a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 faire d\u2019elle l\u2019incarnation du dieu de la guerre (Ar\u00e8s chez les Grecs et Mars chez les Romains). Elle est due \u00e0 une forte pr\u00e9sence d&rsquo;oxyde de fer dans le sol martien&nbsp;: de la rouille&nbsp;! Aujourd\u2019hui, son observation est pris\u00e9e des amateurs et les images de son exploration par les sondes scientifiques captivent le grand public. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/lete-2020-un-ete-martien\/\">Trois sondes sont d&rsquo;ailleurs arriv\u00e9es \u00e0 la surface de la plan\u00e8te ou en orbite autour d&rsquo;elle en 2021<\/a>. Mars est en effet l\u2019astre le plus proche de la Terre apr\u00e8s la Lune et V\u00e9nus, et un lieu o\u00f9 l\u2019Homme pourrait envisager de s\u2019installer \u00e0 l\u2019avenir\u2026 De quoi stimuler l\u2019imagination&nbsp;! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"boxFocus color1\"><strong>Carte d&rsquo;identit\u00e9 de Mars<\/strong><br><i class=\"neko-icon-play\" style=\"color:#4FB8D7\"><\/i>Plan\u00e8te tellurique disposant d\u2019une atmosph\u00e8re t\u00e9nue<br><i class=\"neko-icon-play\" style=\"color:#4FB8D7\"><\/i>Quatri\u00e8me plan\u00e8te en partant du Soleil<br><i class=\"neko-icon-play\" style=\"color:#4FB8D7\"><\/i>Distance au Soleil&nbsp;: 207 \u00e0 249 millions de km<br><i class=\"neko-icon-play\" style=\"color:#4FB8D7\"><\/i>Diam\u00e8tre \u00e9quatorial&nbsp;: 6\u202f794 km (0,5 fois celui de la Terre)<br><i class=\"neko-icon-play\" style=\"color:#4FB8D7\"><\/i>P\u00e9riode de r\u00e9volution sid\u00e9rale&nbsp;: 687 jours<br><i class=\"neko-icon-play\" style=\"color:#4FB8D7\"><\/i>P\u00e9riode de rotation&nbsp;: 24h&nbsp;37min  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quand voit-on la plan\u00e8te Mars&nbsp;?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Il faut bien choisir sa p\u00e9riode pour observer Mars, car son \u00e9loignement \u00e0 nous varie fortement, entre 56&nbsp;et 400&nbsp;millions de kilom\u00e8tres.<strong> Le moment le plus favorable est celui de l&rsquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/conjonction-opposition-planete\/\">opposition<\/a><\/strong>, qui se produit tous les deux ans. Mars est alors visible du coucher du Soleil \u00e0 son lever et atteint son point le plus haut dans le ciel en milieu de nuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C&rsquo;est \u00e9galement \u00e0 ce moment que la plan\u00e8te se trouve au plus pr\u00e8s de la Terre. Elle est donc la mieux observable, car avec le plus grand diam\u00e8tre apparent. Toutefois, cette distance minimale peut varier de 56 \u00e0 101&nbsp;millions de kilom\u00e8tres selon les oppositions&nbsp;! Un peu en dessous de notre satellite, la plan\u00e8te Mars approchait de l&rsquo;opposition. Les couleurs des deux astres \u00e9taient tr\u00e8s similaires. <\/strong><small>Image&nbsp;: Louis Rouxel&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;Concours photo Stelvision n\u00b025<\/small><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Janvier&nbsp;2025, Mars au plus pr\u00e8s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>L&rsquo;hiver 2024-2025 est plac\u00e9 sous le signe de Mars<\/strong>. C\u2019est le 12 janvier 2025 que Mars se trouvera au plus pr\u00e8s de la Terre, \u00e0 96&nbsp;millions de kilom\u00e8tres. Elle appara\u00eetra alors sous la forme d\u2019un petit disque de 15&nbsp;secondes d\u2019arc. Quelques jours plus tard, le 16 janvier 2025, la plan\u00e8te rouge sera \u00e0 l\u2019opposition. Durant cette p\u00e9riode, sa hauteur maximale de 65 \u00e0 70&nbsp;degr\u00e9s au-dessus de l\u2019horizon (pour la France m\u00e9tropolitaine) est id\u00e9ale pour l\u2019observer dans de tr\u00e8s bonnes conditions, sans \u00eatre g\u00ean\u00e9 par les remous de l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re. Ces conditions devraient permettre de voir quelques d\u00e9tails \u00e0 sa surface&nbsp;! Notez les variations de diam\u00e8tre apparent.<\/strong> <small>Image&nbsp;: St\u00e9phane Gonzales<\/small><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Cette opposition 2025 n&rsquo;est pas tr\u00e8s favorable si l\u2019on regarde la distance minimale \u00e0 laquelle la plan\u00e8te se trouve par rapport \u00e0 la Terre. Mais ce d\u00e9savantage est largement compens\u00e9 par la belle hauteur au-dessus de l\u2019horizon \u00e0 laquelle nous pourrons l\u2019observer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour m\u00e9moire, la derni\u00e8re opposition de Mars la plus favorable a eu lieu en 2018. Sa distance avec la Terre \u00e9tait alors de seulement 57,7&nbsp;millions de kilom\u00e8tres. Mais la plan\u00e8te rouge \u00e9tait plut\u00f4t basse sur l\u2019horizon aux latitudes de la France m\u00e9tropolitaine. \u00c0 Paris, elle ne s\u2019\u00e9levait que d\u2019une quinzaine de degr\u00e9s au maximum et d\u2019une vingtaine de degr\u00e9s \u00e0 Perpignan. Aussi, il suffit d\u2019avoir une id\u00e9e de la direction o\u00f9 chercher, et on la trouve facilement gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son \u00e9clat. Durant les premiers mois de&nbsp;2024, par le jeu de son propre mouvement mais aussi de celui de la Terre, la plan\u00e8te traverse de nombreuses constellations&nbsp;: le Sagittaire, le Capricorne, le Verseau, les Poissons, le B\u00e9lier, le Taureau et les G\u00e9meaux. Fin octobre 2024, elle atteint la constellation du Cancer o\u00f9 son d\u00e9placement apparent ralentit, puis s&rsquo;inverse. Elle repasse ensuite dans la constellation des G\u00e9meaux juste avant son opposition. La plan\u00e8te rouge y termine sa boucle de r\u00e9trogradation et reprend son mouvement vers l&rsquo;est en mars 2025. En revanche, sa brillance \u00e0 l\u2019opposition donne <strong>de jolis tableaux visuels lors de ses rapprochements avec la Lune<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aux jumelles<\/strong>, son int\u00e9r\u00eat reste limit\u00e9, aucun d\u00e9tail n\u2019\u00e9tant accessible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Une lunette ou un t\u00e9lescope de 60 \u00e0 100&nbsp;mm de diam\u00e8tre<\/strong> avec un fort grossissement permet de faire appara\u00eetre le disque, mais sans plus. Il faut en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral <strong>un instrument d\u2019au moins 115 \u00e0 130&nbsp;mm<\/strong> et un grossissement fort (jusqu\u2019\u00e0 1,5&nbsp;fois le diam\u00e8tre instrumental) pour que les premiers d\u00e9tails de surface soient accessibles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">R\u00e9unir les bonnes conditions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mars offre alors des d\u00e9tails int\u00e9ressants \u00e0 condition de se montrer patient et pers\u00e9v\u00e9rant dans l&rsquo;observation. Retenez qu\u2019il faut&nbsp;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u00e9viter toutes les sources de turbulence<\/strong> (remous d\u2019air), qui brouillent les images. La turbulence atmosph\u00e9rique se d\u00e9tecte en observant attentivement \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il nu l\u2019aspect des \u00e9toiles&nbsp;: si elles scintillent, c\u2019est qu\u2019il y en a. Pr\u00e9f\u00e9rez aussi une soir\u00e9e sans vent. Pour \u00e9viter la turbulence \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur de votre instrument, pensez \u00e0 le sortir au moins une heure d&rsquo;avance pour que sa temp\u00e9rature s\u2019\u00e9quilibre avec celle de l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur&nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>attendre que la plan\u00e8te monte le plus haut possible dans le ciel<\/strong>, pour justement minimiser la turbulence atmosph\u00e9rique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>scruter longuement et tr\u00e8s attentivement la plan\u00e8te<\/strong> pour que les d\u00e9tails se r\u00e9v\u00e8lent&nbsp;!
