On mesure alors <strong>la <em>s\u00e9paration angulaire<\/em><\/strong> (appel\u00e9e aussi <em>distance apparente<\/em>), qui <strong>est la valeur de l\u2019angle form\u00e9 entre les deux droites qui relient ces deux objets \u00e0 l\u2019observateur<\/strong>, comme illustr\u00e9 ci-dessus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Degr\u00e9s, minutes, secondes, les mesures de la s\u00e9paration angulaire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Une s\u00e9paration angulaire se mesure en degr\u00e9s, minutes et secondes d\u2019arc<\/strong>. Un degr\u00e9 d\u2019arc contient 60&nbsp;minutes d\u2019arc, et une minute d\u2019arc contient 60&nbsp;secondes d\u2019arc. Autrement dit, une seconde d\u2019arc est 3&nbsp;600&nbsp;fois plus petite qu\u2019un degr\u00e9 d\u2019arc. Par commodit\u00e9, on omet souvent de pr\u00e9ciser \u00ab&nbsp;d\u2019arc&nbsp;\u00bb derri\u00e8re ces unit\u00e9s (\u00ab&nbsp;la distance mesur\u00e9e entre ces deux \u00e9toiles est de 2&nbsp;minutes et 30&nbsp;secondes&nbsp;\u00bb). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On mesure aussi le diam\u00e8tre des astres de la m\u00eame fa\u00e7on, on parle alors de <em><strong>diam\u00e8tre apparent<\/strong><\/em> ou de <em><strong>taille apparente<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rappel sur ce qu\u2019on voit \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il nu<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sans instrumentation, la s\u00e9paration angulaire la plus grande couverte par nos deux yeux est d&rsquo;environ 120&nbsp;degr\u00e9s<\/strong>. Mais qu\u2019en est-il pour les valeurs les plus faibles&nbsp;? Dans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/mesurer-distances-dans-ciel-avec-main\/\">cet article<\/a>, nous expliquons qu\u2019en utilisant sa main, l&rsquo;observateur peut \u00e9valuer des distances entre 5&nbsp;et 20&nbsp;degr\u00e9s, et m\u00eame de l\u2019ordre de 1&nbsp;degr\u00e9 en utilisant la largeur de son pouce. <strong>Pour des valeurs en dessous de 1&nbsp;degr\u00e9, on admet que la s\u00e9paration angulaire devient serr\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il nu, cependant les limites de l\u2019\u0153il sont loin d\u2019\u00eatre atteintes&nbsp;!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nos yeux peuvent voir de petites s\u00e9parations angulaires<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour \u00e9valuer de quoi vos yeux sont capables, vous pouvez vous amuser \u00e0 rechercher des astres dans le ciel de plus en plus rapproch\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Regardez tout d&rsquo;abord la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/la-pleine-lune-notre-satellite-en-majeste\/\">pleine lune<\/a><\/strong>. Compte tenu de l&rsquo;\u00e9clat plus faible de ces deux \u00e9toiles, il faut un ciel bien noir pour r\u00e9ussir \u00e0 les voir s\u00e9par\u00e9ment. Si vous y parvenez, c&rsquo;est d\u00e9j\u00e0 un petit d\u00e9fi relev\u00e9&nbsp;!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour les distances plus faibles, il n\u2019existe malheureusement pas de duo d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles suffisamment lumineux pour qu\u2019ils soient identifi\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il nu. Mais sachez que <strong>la plupart d\u2019entre nous pouvons voir deux astres distinctement s\u2019ils sont s\u00e9par\u00e9s d\u2019au moins une minute d\u2019arc<\/strong>. Le diam\u00e8tre apparent, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire la distance d&rsquo;un bord \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre de la plan\u00e8te varie entre 30&nbsp;et 50&nbsp;secondes d&rsquo;arc. Dans un oculaire de faible grossissement, la plan\u00e8te n&rsquo;est pas bien grosse mais en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, on distingue des d\u00e9tails beaucoup plus petits \u00e0 sa surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Puis, pointez l\u2019\u00e9toile double Albir\u00e9o dans la constellation du Cygne<\/strong>. Ce duo se compose d\u2019une brillante \u00e9toile jaune et d\u2019une \u00e9toile bleue \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9clat bien plus faible. Leur s\u00e9paration angulaire est de 34&nbsp;secondes d\u2019arc (en th\u00e9orie s\u00e9parable \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u0153il nu pour les meilleurs observateurs, mais la diff\u00e9rence d&rsquo;\u00e9clat rend cela impossible). Une paire de jumelles grossissant 10&nbsp;fois est d\u00e9j\u00e0 suffisante pour les voir s\u00e9par\u00e9ment. La distance entre les deux astres est trop grande pour que vous puissiez les voir ensemble dans un oculaire courant \u00e0 faible grossissement. Mais, surprise, chacune des deux \u00e9toiles est elle-m\u00eame double&nbsp;! la distance qui s\u00e9pare chacun des deux duos est tr\u00e8s similaire&nbsp;: 2,36&nbsp;secondes pour \u03b5<sup>1<\/sup>AB et 2,40&nbsp;secondes pour \u03b5<sup>2<\/sup>AB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ces \u00e9toiles doubles sont des cibles tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressantes pour tester le <em>pouvoir s\u00e9parateur<\/em> d&rsquo;un petit instrument d&rsquo;amateur, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire la s\u00e9paration angulaire qui doit s\u00e9parer les astres pour les voir distinctement. N&rsquo;h\u00e9sitez pas \u00e0 utiliser un grossissement important pour distinguer ces \u00e9toiles s\u00e9par\u00e9ment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus les t\u00e9lescopes ont un grand diam\u00e8tre et plus la valeur du pouvoir s\u00e9parateur est faible, ce qui signifie qu\u2019ils permettent de voir de petites s\u00e9parations angulaires. Pour un t\u00e9lescope de 130 mm (comme le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stelvision.com\/astro\/boutique\/telescope-dobson-130-flextube-heritage\/\">Dobson 130 FlexTube Heritage<\/a>), il est de 0,9\u00a0secondes d\u2019arc. Les deux instruments permettent donc en th\u00e9orie de voir les deux duos d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles distinctement. Mais pour atteindre des valeurs aussi faibles, il faut de tr\u00e8s bonnes conditions d\u2019observation (ciel cristallin et atmosph\u00e8re calme). Dans des conditions plus ordinaires, on peut multiplier ces valeurs par deux pour avoir une id\u00e9e du pouvoir s\u00e9parateur r\u00e9el.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au final, avec 60 ou 70 mm de diam\u00e8tre il n&rsquo;est pas possible de s\u00e9parer clairement les deux duos, on distingue plut\u00f4t deux \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9toiles allong\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb (elles se confondent en partie).
